What is cotton plaster

DEPKA cotton plaster, also called decorative cotton wall coating, is an environmentally conscious, new-generation interior decoration product. Its main raw material is cotton, prepared with natural adhesive and particles of decorative natural stone such as mica. It is ready to use once mixed with water.

Indoors, it can be applied directly to walls and ceilings and to many substrates, including aerated concrete, brick, rough plaster, skim coat, gypsum, satin gypsum and painted surfaces. If the wall contains materials that dissolve in water, a primer may be needed.

As well as its decorative look, it contributes to thermal and sound insulation. It comes in 60 main colours, which can be combined to create mixed colours and patterns.

Frequently asked questions

Can cotton plaster be used instead of silk plaster?

Yes. DEPKA cotton plaster offers the warm, textured, seamless look people search for under names like liquid wallpaper, with natural ingredients. DEPKA does not sell silk plaster; you can read about the differences in our comparison article.

Can extra mica flakes be added?

Yes. The product already contains natural stone particles; if you want more shimmer, you can add gold or silver mica flakes.

Do I need a primer?

Not on most surfaces. If the wall has poor-quality paint or any material that dissolves in water, a primer is recommended.

How is it applied?

Add 4 litres of warm water to 1 kg of product, mix for 20–25 minutes, leave to rest for 20 minutes and mix again for 5 minutes. Then spread it with the transparent Depka trowel. Full details are in our application rules article.
