Definition

What is cotton plaster

DEPKA cotton plaster is a new-generation decorative cotton wall coating with 100% natural ingredients: cotton, natural adhesive and decorative natural stone. It comes ready in the pack; you simply mix it with warm water and spread it on the wall with the transparent Depka trowel.

Once dry, it leaves a soft, warm, lightly textured and breathable surface. On walls and ceilings it can replace rough plaster, gypsum, primer, paint and wallpaper on its own.

What it is not

Not to be confused with

Not silk plaster

It is not the same as the textured coatings sold under this general name by different manufacturers; it is made from cotton and natural stone.

Not generic liquid wallpaper

It is a DEPKA-branded product with its own formula and DP-coded colours.

Not carpet-texture plaster

It should not be confused with products sold as carpet-texture plaster; DEPKA needs nothing but water when you prepare it.

Not shell plaster

Shell plaster is an acrylic resin and ceramic-based facade product; DEPKA offers it as a separate product.

Not paint

It replaces paint but is not paint; it is a textured, flexible coating.

No polystyrene

It contains no polystyrene or synthetic fillers.

In short: DEPKA is a new-generation cotton coating with natural ingredients that does the job of both plaster and paint in a single layer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between DEPKA cotton plaster and silk plaster?

The key difference is what goes into it. DEPKA's ingredients are clear: cotton, natural adhesive and decorative natural stone. Nothing but water is added when you prepare it. For a detailed comparison, see this article.

Can cotton plaster be used instead of paint?

Yes. As well as paint, it can also replace rough plaster, gypsum, primer and wallpaper. It can be applied directly once the wall has been built.

Can cotton plaster be used on exterior walls?

No, it is for interior walls and ceilings. For facades, we recommend shell plaster.

Does DEPKA have any official documents?

DEPKA has passed fire testing at the TSE laboratory to TS EN 13501-1 and TS EN ISO 11925-2, and it is a registered trademark. You can see all the documents on the documents and test reports page.
