Artistic applications

Artistic wall projects begin with DEPKA cotton plaster

DEPKA cotton plaster is more than a plain wall coating. Prepare the colours separately and bring them together on the wall to create figures, motifs, murals and logos.

News · 2 min read

For artistic work, the biggest advantage of DEPKA cotton wall plaster is how easy it is to work with. Because the paste-like product can be shaped in small pieces with a trowel or by hand, you can turn a wall into a canvas.

You can work figures in different colours onto a single-colour background, add colourful patterns to a child's room, put your logo on the wall at work or create a mural for your living room. And because the product can be applied to many surfaces, such as concrete, gypsum, wood, glass and metal, you have plenty of room to work.

Figures built up detail by detail

For figure work, each colour is prepared as a separate paste and the motif is built up on the wall piece by piece. This gives you sharp silhouettes and vivid colour transitions.

Even after it has dried, cotton plaster can be moistened and reworked, so correcting a mistake is easy. That gives you plenty of freedom to experiment.

Ways to create patterns

A separate paste for each colour

Prepare each colour in its own container and combine the motifs on the wall or on the trowel.

Patterns from dry blends

Mix several colours while dry for a speckled, blended texture.

Before you start

Before tackling a large figure, try it out on a small area or a board. As you get used to the trowel, fine details become easier. For more examples, browse our artistic work gallery.

About artistic work

Can you create a logo with cotton plaster?

Yes. You can work your logo onto the wall using pastes prepared in different colours. It gives offices, shops and cafés a lasting brand wall.

Do I need a different product for artistic work?

No. The same DEPKA cotton plaster and the transparent Depka trowel are all you need. Add mica for shimmer or ceramic particles for a different texture.

What happens if I make a mistake?

Moisten the area with water, wait a little, then smooth it with the trowel, or remove that piece and rework it. Once dry, there is no colour difference.
